Governor Patrick Njoroge has asked for patience from Imperial Bank depositors as Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) finalizes the deal with KCB Group to resolve the fallen bank’s receivership.

A briefing note from Imperial Bank depositors lobby group sent to this news site today said Njoroge made the request for patience in a meeting with the lobby group this week.

“He requested that we ask depositors to continue to be patient as the end is near and also asked for depositors support in finalising the deal with KCB,” said the briefing note signed by the lobby group chairman Mahmoud Khambiye.

The lobby group said Njoroge was reluctant to discuss the particular details of the deal been worked with KCB only saying it would be concluded ‘soon’.

“He stated that he was not ready or able to discuss the particulars of the deal as the finer details are being worked out,” said the lobby group in the note to depositors.

Imperial Bank was placed under receivership in October 2015 after a Sh34 billion fraud was discovered by the bank’s non-executive directors.

Patience!!! may Allah Grant us subra and protect us from the stress of our deposits, which had made us cancel so many projects.
W have left the issue to the mercy of Allah… However I am glad the cbk governor is free now to talk to depositors.
