The most-awaited football event of the year – UEFA Euro 2020 is set to kick off on 11th June and as the official broadcaster, StarTimes is committed to ensure that every football fan across Kenya will enjoy the upcoming football feast.

“Sports is one of the major sectors that were affected due to mitigation efforts against the spread of Covid 19, it is therefore great relief to the sporting fraternity that Euro 2020 is finally set to take place and it is proof that the world is taking great strides towards managing the pandemic,” said Mr. Aldrine Nsubuga, StarTimes Regional Marketing Director.

“Within the one month during which the tournament will be taking place, from Africa to Europe, from South America to Asia, football fans will chant, cry and laugh together while watching this thrilling tournament. We expect it to be amazing and as the official broadcast partner, StarTimes has set out to enrich targeted EURO 2020 themed programming before and during the tournament,” added Mr. Nsubuga.

The broadcaster has dedicated five channels to the rich footballing action, three of them being High Definition (HD) which includes World Football (HD), Sports Premium (HD), Sports Arena (HD), Sports Focus and Sports Life. The channels will have additional offerings including multi-language commentary in English, Kiswahili and French.

With the broadcast rights extending to availability of the matches on the StarTimes mobile application, soccer fans will be in a position to stream live matches on Standard Definition (SD), High Definition (HD) and Ultra High Definition (UHD).

StarTimes will air all 51 games of the tournament live and in high definition (HD). Commentaries will be available in international (English, French, Portuguese) and local languages. And games will be shown on all platforms, DTT and DTH as well as streaming app StarTimes ON.

“With more watching options, we are catering to every soccer fan’s needs. Whether in rural or an urban dweller, whether you watch football on TV or on your mobile phone, whether you are able to watch the game live or recorded, StarTimes will deliver the best watching experience.” Concluded Mr. Nsubuga.

The highly anticipated tournament was postponed in March 2020 following the COVID-19 outbreak and is now slated to take place from 11 June to 11 July. This will be the 16th UEFA European Championship bringing together 24 international men’s football powerhouses fighting to be declared champions of Europe.

The tournament kicks off with Turkey taking on Italy in Rome on June 11.
