Profit and Loss Consulting (P&L Consulting), a business advisory firm specializing in niche communication services was weekend named the best Financial Communication Campaign of the Year at the 2017 in Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) Awards for Excellence.
The firm which is slightly above four years old won the award for an entry it submitted showcasing transformational communication campaign for local Investment Bank, Genghis Capital, after Chase Bank was placed under receivership.
P&L Consulting midwifed the transaction and has supported the business continuity communication. This was the first time that financial communication category featured since the inception PRSK Awards.
Genghis Capital went through ownership changes in 2016, which was a tumultuous year for players in the financial sector. P&L Consulting was retained to manage communication around the Investment Bank’s acquisition transaction by Overtime Capital Limited after Chase Bank was put under receivership. The assignment extended to stakeholder engagement post the transaction where the main focus was to support business continuity and the turnaround under the new shareholders.

P&L Consulting, a fairly young and new player in the communication space have cemented their presence in the market with their niche offering, taking up technical assignments previously outsourced to foreign firms with the required expertise. The firm lists Investor Relations, Financial Communication, Litigation Communication and Crisis Management among the practices they focus on.

The event which was held in Mombasa on Friday attracted a total of 62 entries in the 13 categories. The Financial Communication Campaign category award recognizes communication practitioners who have employed strategic financial communication approaches to communicate with shareholders, investors and other financial stakeholders hence contributing to a company’s bottom line.
