Central Bank of Kenya Governor Patrick Njoroge now says they do not have access to tamper with settlements made by the National Treasury to various procurement entities.

Speaking on questions regarding payments made in the National Youth Service scandal, Dr Njoroge said it is the National Treasury that operates the Integrated Financial Information Management System (IFMIS) and Internet Banking and CBK cannot interfere with authorised payments.

He said there is to provide an environment conducive for making the payments but it is only commercial banks that can raise queries on suspicious payments that could be the result of money laundering.
