There is a new stout beer in town. Introduced to the market by Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) – Guinness Smooth, is latest addition to the Guinness family, which has a uniquely smooth and refreshing taste.

Over the weekend, many Guinness drinkers in Nairobi and other Kenyan cities took their time to sample the distinctively, flavourful beer with the perfect balance of sweet and bitter to achieve smoothness and refreshment that everyone can enjoy.

In a press release announcing the arrival and the addition of the new drink in its product portfolio, KBL said Guinness Smooth is a new expression of Guinness developed by the Guinness master brewers.

“The local brewing team in Kenya has worked closely with the international brewers in Dublin, the home of Guinness, to deliver an exciting and stand out beer that is perfect for casual get-togethers with friends,” said the KBL in the press release.

Kennedy Mwangi, KBL Head Brewer says Guinness Smooth is brewed using only the finest natural ingredients, many of which are sourced locally.

“With the coffee and rich notes from the roasted barley marrying with a fruity, butterscotch flavour from the brewing process, Guinness Smooth is truly unique,” he says.

Dublin based brewer, Peter Simpson, who has worked with the local team comments: “I am passionate about developing character-led, flavourful beers so it has been great to work collaboratively with local brewers Mwangi and Peter Oduor here in Kenya. With their local knowledge on taste and what resonates with customers here, and my experience of creating new beers, together we have crafted a product that is perfect for everyone in Kenya to enjoy when out to catch up with friends.”

Nduku Wamakau, Guinness Marketing Director KBL adds, “Guinness has a centuries-long tradition of brewing distinctive, extraordinary beers and Guinness Smooth is no different. Our latest launch continues the Guinness commitment to bring consumers flavourful beers which they can enjoy in more occasions. We will be launching initially in Kisumu with a wide range of sampling opportunities, so if you’re looking for something delicious and refreshing to enjoy when you’re out catching up with friends, give Guinness Smooth a try.”

New Guinness Smooth with an ABV of 4.5 percent, is best enjoyed served fresh from the fridge at between 3°C and 7°C.
